Vancouver gave up the horrible second goal and just wilted after that point. Bit of a shame, really.

That was such a horrific turnover from Cubas. Vancouver running Inter Miami off the park and hands them a second goal instead. Just brutal.

MLS / Apple revised deal feels a negotiation around Apple’s reported opt-out clause (after 2027 season aka middle of calendar transition) to keep the agreement in place. Apple needs content for medium-term (while limiting downside risk) and MLS can’t really go to market without proof of concept.

Real ones know off-salary budget payments are part of MLS lore … and never involve planting trees.

Toronto knows they can spend the $8m in the market, right? Difficult to imagine any European team coming close to that number in this case.
💣🇺🇸 BREAKING: Toronto FC have agreed a deal to acquire American attacker Djordje Mihailovic from the Colorado Rapids, per sources

Deal is $8m cash trade + $1m add-ons + sell-on %

Rapids rejected 2 bids then Mihailovic asked club for the TFC move www.givemesport.com/toronto-fc-a...

Interesting (to me at least) that the Revs are linked to Matt Turner right around the time two supporters’ groups are asking for a new sporting director and a new head coach.

Inter Miami should have called MLS on Monday, explained the situation, and then offered the fig leaf of a minor injury to try and wriggle out of it. Might have worked, might not have worked. The no-call, no-show situation really didn’t leave MLS with much choice here.

Co-sign. No additional notes.
It was probably time for Sporting to part ways with Peter Vermes. The last few years have been bad.

But let's not overlook what he built, and the fact that he's one of the single most important people in the history of the league.

Barnsley fans are going to be really confused when they realize Jonathan Lewis is a winger and not a number nine. Which is odd because Dane Murphy tried to sign him in 2020.

Normal club stuff. Nothing to note here.
🦩 Inter Miami president of football operations Raul Sanllehi has been re-assigned & Guillermo Hoyos is now in charge of sporting decisions, per sources.

Hoyos was Lionel Messi's academy coach in Barcelona. Messi calls him his "football godfather". www.givemesport.com/inter-miami-...

Not exactly a surprise to see MLS move its productions from NYC to (presumably) a more cost effective and efficient location in Stamford. The wrinkle is they have to make the production feel just as big (or bigger) in the new space.

10 percent of the cash fee for internal transfers is a huge step forward for the players. MLS and its players have been fighting players getting their share of outgoing transfers about this since the start of the league.
Statement on the creation of internal transfer market:

Can only imagine the response when SKC asked for a fee and Chivas said … sure?
🇲🇽🔴⚪️ Sources: Chivas have completed the deal to sign Mexican forward Alan Pulido from Sporting KC.
@clmerlo.bsky.social 1st.

Pulido, 33, is SKC's club-record signing. Scored 38 goals in 108 apps across all comps during his time at the club.

Deal will open a DP spot for SKC.

Montréal definitely going to end up on the Revolution’s Christmas card list this year after taking enough of Vrioni’s salary budget hit to allow Revs to open a Designated Player spot.
January 7, 2025 at 6:22 PM
Tanner’s pretty smart and delivers great ROI on that academy, but it’s fair to wonder whether turning an off-brand Red Bull model up to 10 with Red Bull already ahead on the curve is too clever by half.

Writing on the wall for a bit now. We’ll see whether the Revs add winger to the list … but the current build doesn’t seem to have many starter-level minutes for a new wide player at first glance (depending on Chancalay’s timeline).
BREAKING: PSV are nearing a deal to sign Bosnia and Herzegovina int'l winger Esmir Bajraktarevic from New England Revolution, per sources.

Agreement in principle reached on a deal worth up to $6m for the 19-year-old, sources say. Revs retain sell-on % www.givemesport.com/psv-nearing-...

Deila is a serial winner. Never can tell how things will shake out in any one place or another, but you’d like his chances in Atlanta with Lagerwey and Henderson finding the right players.
December 20, 2024 at 7:02 PM
FWIW: Revs business over the past few days makes a lot of sense for a Caleb Porter-team. More passing. Better option at CF. Different defensive profile for a higher line.

Lagerwey special here: draft pick in exchange for one year of a $2.1m player for $300k salary budget charge (and ATL could theoretically lower further with GAM). #MLS
Mateusz Klich trade to ATL is now official:

Officially, DCU receives ...

No. 23 overall pick in today's draft
$50k GAM in 2026 if he re-signs with ATL
And it frees up an intl roster slot on their roster

Per sources, ATL picks up $300k of his $2.1m salary

He remains a DCU designated player

Releasing the GAM totals is a nice step for the sickos.

Also worth noting that it makes a lot more sense to part ways with Sartini instead of signing him to an extension if you’re going to sell the club.

Pretty ideal time for the Whitecaps ownership group to cash out. Team entered MLS for $35m in 2009. Even with investments and losses, they are in line for a hefty ROI.
