New Terps AD Jim Smith has brought an energetic streak and ambition to College Park. We sat down to talk about his vision, which is all about saying “yes” and making the unlikely happen.

But what we really need to see is how he handles the hard choices: www.thebanner.com/sports/colle...

Will Lamar Jackson reach MVP form again? Is the restructured Ravens defense actually good? Who has stepped up and who has stepped back?

A Ravens midseason roundtable from me, Jonas, Giana and Paul on the most pressing questions: www.thebanner.com/sports/raven...

John Harbaugh said that some vets who are a little dinged up got the day off, but you obviously have to keep an eye on Lamar Jackson's (now) ankle going forward. Roquan Smith missed time before with a hamstring injury, and Kyle Hamilton (shoulder/groin) makes this whole defense go around.

“Guys in our 30s, we’re not dead. We can still do stuff — everything just hurts a little more.”

Donnell Whittenburg, through years of persistence, had a gold medal breakthrough when most gymnastics careers are over.

Congrats to the Ravens on scraping out a win in Cleveland. But they aren’t getting far if Lamar Jackson can’t be his best. And the Ravens aren’t helping him be his best right now.

Here’s what Baltimore can do around Lamar to help him — and themselves: www.thebanner.com/sports/raven...

Happy Veterans Day. Both my grandfathers served in the US military, but I’m especially thinking of my grandfather who immigrated at 14 with $5 in his pocket and only able to speak Chinese. He served in the Army in World War II. Immigrants have done so much for this country.

“I thought that record might stand for 100 years.”

Derrick Henry’s legend began at Yulee High, where he steamrolled his way to 12,124 yards. As he closes in on the number in his NFL career, another small town kid is chasing his national record — with his blessing: www.thebanner.com/sports/raven...

You might not know Navy’s Landon Robinson yet. Some numbers speak for him:

- 665 lb squat 🏋️‍♂️
- 465 lb bench 💪
- 20 mph speed 🏃‍♂️
- PFF’s No. 8 graded interior defender in CFB 🏈

Lukas Sotell was the one Terp who stayed behind from last year’s Sweet 16 run. And yet: “At first it was super weird — I felt like I was at another school.”

Under new coach Buzz Williams, Maryland basketball is going to feel *weird* for a while: www.thebanner.com/sports/colle...

Right before tipoff, the PA shouted, “GET READY FOR A NEW ERA OF MARYLAND BASKETBALL!”

Not exactly a packed house at CFG for the new era, but taking in the start of Terps men’s hoops season under new coach Buzz Williams.

“I’ve seen more money invested in identifying the next one good high school player than it would cost to fix this building, which is going to produce a bunch of them.”

Yesterday’s 55-10 home drubbing to No. 2 Indiana was a reminder that the Terps football program has been leapfrogged in the Big Ten pecking order.

It’s OK for this team to aim higher and want more. But it’s not going to happen under Mike Locksley: www.thebanner.com/sports/colle...

Why is it so hard for the Ravens to give the right expectations on Lamar Jackson’s health?

What they’ve said about a possible fine-incurring practice participation report doesn’t add up, but more importantly, it hints at an organization disconnect with the star QB: www.thebanner.com/sports/raven...

The Ravens needed Tyler Huntley. Tyler Huntley needed the Ravens.

For a while, it seemed that neither party wanted to acknowledge how much that was true. But when Huntley and John Harbaugh talked this summer via phone, it sowed the seeds for a happy reunion: www.thebanner.com/sports/raven...

From @giana-jade.bsky.social — since an explosive season opener, the Ravens’ offense has slid further into a rut. Injuries aside, sources in and around the locker room say Todd Monken’s play calling and straying from plans is a source of frustration for his players:

Marlon Humphrey in Week 2: “Right now, our maturity level, sadly, when we get in those situations, it’s just not enough.”

Humphrey on Monday: “I don’t know which one of you just put that out there, but that was not my quote.”

The Ravens need more leadership than this. 👇
