COMMENTARY: Trump was on the ballot in Colorado

NEW: Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky has conceded. A stunning defeat for a MAGA media fixture who built a national profile on claims of a "complete gang takeover" of Aurora that led President Trump to visit and falsely proclaim the city "conquered" by an immigrant gang

Incredibly proud of and happy for Next producer Mallory Harris who moved in front of the camera to co-anchor 9NEWS+ streaming Election Night coverage.

Nailed it with insight and deep knowledge.

Watching our team stretch and grow to serve the community is so much fun.

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston told me Monday that his $1B Vibrant Denver Bond wasn’t a referendum on his administration as his leadership faces criticism. As voters delivered him an overwhelming 20+ pt win on Election Night, I asked him if he wanted to amend that. #copolitics

Jurinsky, who outraised her Dem challengers by 5X and 15X, trails both in a pick-two at-large race. Their leads have grown steadily over the past few hours.
November 5, 2025 at 7:05 AM
UPDATE: Dems lead every city council race in Aurora, Colorado - and could flip a 7-3 GOP majority into a 6-4 Dem edge - including what would be a shocking upset of MAGA media star Danielle Jurinsky, whose claims of a "complete gang takeover" led Trump to call Aurora "conquered." #copolitics

Colorado's shock of the night if this holds, but Republican firebrand Danielle Jurinsky narrowly trails in her Aurora City Council re-elect bid. Jurinsky built a national profile on immigration via Fox News and the Trump campaign, but she trails two Dems in a pick-two race. #copolitics

“Go vote; it makes you feel big and strong.” Legendary CBS newsman Bob Schieffer passing along his mother’s wisdom always comes to mind on Election Day.

Grateful to live in a place where voting is easy, secure, and convenient.

COMMENTARY: Choose people over politics in helping our neighbors through the government shutdown
November 4, 2025 at 5:20 PM
The Vibrant Denver Bond packages similar projects, to build community buy-in and prevent controversial projects from being rejected. I asked Mayor Johnston why voters should have to approve projects to assist the Broncos' billionaire owners in order to fix crumbling bridges.
November 4, 2025 at 5:43 AM
There is no organized, well-funded opposition to the bond. Mayor Johnston defended the idea of borrowing to fund mega infrastructure project, rather than paying less in cash for a less ambitious project list.
November 4, 2025 at 5:43 AM
Denver Mayor Mike Johnston says he doesn't view the nearly $1B Vibrant Denver Bond vote as a referendum on his leadership. I asked him how voters should register disapproval other than by voting against the bond. #copolitics

COMMENTARY: Why I'm raising money for a food bank in a deep red, pro-Trump area during the government shutdown
November 4, 2025 at 2:54 AM
Food lines were 2X normal this morning at the Weld Food Bank, which told me 2/3rds of their visitors said they were impacted by the SNAP food benefit freeze. Our microgiving campaign has raised $50,000 for Weld Food Bank so far. Even $5 helps: weldfoodbank.org/wordofthanks/

Politicians are playing games with SNAP benefits while food banks are overwhelmed with need. Screw politics. Let’s just help people. I’ll match the next fifty $5 donations to the Weld Food Bank: weldfoodbank.org/wordofthanks/

There's a bipartisan push by some in Colorado's congressional delegation to free a father and children seized by ICE on their way to school in Durango. ICE has not suggested the father committed any crime.

A small town police force bragged that citizens "can't get a breath of fresh air in or out without us knowing" thanks to Flock surveillance cameras.

They used the cameras to wrongly accused a woman of a crime, forcing her to find other surveillance video to prove her innocence.
