The sorting and exploring our attic while preparing to move got a little silly today. 50 year old pepper?! generationsofnomads.com/2025/11/01/todays-attic-adventure/

I’ve been missing (health stuff—finishing radiation tomorrow) and not doing any family history. Yesterday my lovely 2nd cousin sent me this. Our mutual gr grandmother, Stella (Owen) Miller, wrote the words. Such a lovely gift!

I’ll also be permanently canceling my Amazon Prime subscription, buying a book (clearly an essential) at my preferred indie bookstore, paying cash, and staying off social media for the day. It feels a little futile, but hopefully it’s a small step towards making an impact. Please join me!

While researching Clementine's grandparents, I found inventories w/ names & ages of people enslaved by both her grandparents at their deaths in 1860 & 1863, some including names of who they were sold to when the estates were settled. More to share soon. #GenHour #Slavery #FamilyHistory #Genealogy

Hi #GenHour! I'd hoped to have a blog post to share today, but am not quite done. Tuesday was the 100th anniversary of the death of Clementine Bodenhamer (1853-14 Jan 1925), my gr gr grmother. As a girl she lived on the Missouri farm of her slaveholding grandparents & lived to see women's suffrage.

Clementine “Clemmie” Esther Bodenhamer (1854-1925) was one of the reasons I got interested in my #familyhistory. She was my great great grandmother from Marshfield, Missouri and who could resist a name like hers? Remembering her today on the 100th anniversary of her death. #Genealogy

This adorable building is Barrock Lodge, Lyth, Caithness, Scotland, where my 3x grgrandfather George Oliphant was living at the time of his death Dec 10 1904, 120 years ago. I’m having technical problems with a Wordpress blog post on my September visit there, so here’s a little teaser. #genealogy

#Wordpress blogging #Genealogy people, I need help. Returning to work on a draft blog post, I can't edit text blocks or put a cursor into an existing text block. If I highlight a word or entire block, I can't type in it. I tried copying & pasting into a new post with no luck. Any suggestions?

150 years ago, Annie Moore of Ireland became the first immigrant to arrive at Ellis Island & today is the 100th anniversary of her death. Knowing of these double anniversaries is what motivated me to gather & share the research I've done since 2002. Here's a little peek at the story behind that.
