Military service, domestic or foreign, should be part of the public record. Thanks @readthemaple.bsky.social for your important journalism.

imo the left really needs to put a lot more effort into organizing veterans, especially now. they aren’t a political monolith, and a lot of them are getting screwed over right now.

My latest on Substack is a critique of liberal DEI policies and the reactionary response they evoke.

Every time I publish a slightly controversial #CanLit opinion, I can reliably count on a white person commenting on my name and "lack" of experience. It's like supremacist clockwork.
These people cancel each other for deadnaming trans folks but deadname Africans with glee. Neither is OK.

I'm writing about the political economy of Canadian culture and about economic democracy on substack.

First essay is about the rightwing attack on the CBC.

A boycott should include books. Simon & Schuster, HarperCollins, and Penguin Random House should be sanctioned right out of the #canlit market.

We can't afford to place our culture in the hands of US investment corps like Blackrock/Vanguard, and a German fam with prev fascist sympathies.

My #canlit rabble rousing is in part promotion for my consulting services and the book I'm writing, but I also want to help #authors and #publishing workers earn more. Today an author reached out with a q about royalties.

Would you prefer a royalty of 11% Net or 8% List? Lmk in the comments.

My microfiction project Operation Maple Freedom has a feed up. The story consists of brief field notes from a US IntO tasked with preparing a daily briefing for a POTUS with a short attention span. Now I need to figure out how to post to it.

I'm also critical of the Canadian state's top-down, heavy handed approach to diversity. Instead of asking publicly subsidized racists to get good at publishing BIPOCs, the state could have just funded BIPOC publishers. Go to an ACP mtg and see if it in any way resembles Canadian demographics.

I'm also concerned about the increasingly #reactionary tone some #CanLit #publishers have taken re so-called "wokeness" or #DEI

Cdn publishers had no issue promoting state priorities until those priorities shifted to include the 1/4 of Canadians who aren't Euro-descendants. Coincidence?

Being free from #CanLit #Careerism has allowed me to direct my analytical skill away from the concerns of one tasked with maintaining the status quo. Now my #publishing mission is to advocate for authors and employees harmed by the status quo, while developing alt industrial policy.

When I fled from the #CanLit #publishing #plantation, I lost a lot of income and status, but gained a lot of freedom. I'm free to tell the truth about a failing industry. My criticisms of the broken status quo come from a place of concern and desire for rational industrial policies for CanLit.
