if we banned singal, people might think us hypocrites for not banning all the other guys who suck, who constantly dress reactionary sentiment and bad science up in a journalism skin-suit, to then launder it in the name of a broader right-wing incrementalist war against social progress

is the first substantive post i'm gonna have to do here "platforms are not your friends"

like they aren't. They won't be. They're all run by the same rich fucks who are currently talking in the same rooms about how annoying trans women are

This is incidentally why platforms like Bluesky are happy to sell out trans people: because we don't have the resources to sue.

Here is a lesson we can learn.
They’re scared.
And they’re not just scared because of one shooting. They’re scared because they know their business model is built on risk assessments that rely on people not having resources to sue in response to suffering and death related to denial of care. They know exactly what they’re doing.

so did anyone at bluesky have legal review that panicked chatgpt word salad before they posted it or
picking up a partner from top surgery, but will write more later.

What a disappointingly inadequate response, I was really hoping for stronger leadership from Bluesky Trust & Safety.

especially noticeable that Bluesky only communicated after @techcrunch.com published this article earlier today:
Bluesky at a crossroads as users petition to ban Jesse Singal over anti-trans views, harassment | TechCrunch
Now with 25 million users, Bluesky is facing a test that will determine whether or not its platform will still be seen as a safe space and place of refuge
