Law enforcement doesn't just magically become your friend because a dangerous Neo-nazi sent you a death threat. In the generous faith position that law enforcement serves as an impartial actor in this situation, they view antifascists as just another form of extremist. The truth is even more grim.
Law enforcement are rightwing actors working to preserve the status quo, and the FBI is some of the worst of them.
They may even be the one sending the threat.
Several times a year, the FBI will come knocking on the doors of activists in your neighborhood saying things like,
"We have received a credible threat against your life by memb
-ers of [insert Proud Boys/Patriot Front/RW group here] and we believe you may have more information which can help us make an arrest."
They are disinto artists, and will say anything you want to hear to get you to work with them. They will lie to you, or threaten you with arrest if you don't cooperate with their investigation.
Then, they will run to the Proud Boy's and say the same thing.

Shan is a frequent flyer at Capo USD meetings, and runs the org 'CA Parents Act Now'. She also was deeply involved in the extremist campaign targeting a trans teacher in the district, which escalated to the level of a bomb threat against a public high school.

A cis Black woman was chased out of the women’s bathroom of the RUSD meeting in Riverside last Thursday for being a “transgender in the wrong bathroom” in case you hadn’t heard.
