halfway through link between worlds. i'm a bit surprised how highly praised this one is? i mean like it's good and has some pretty neat bits but. i guess it's cause i never loved lttp the way some people do it just kinda feels like a slightly different lttp that's better and worse in different areas

jak is kind of a bizarrely poetic series because it's naughty dog attempting all of the dark epic revenge drama games they make now except functionally the entire narrative of them is about how the dark revenge things are stupid and it's actually just a guy with green hair punching comic bad guys

playing koufuku sousakan, a ps2 game where all you do is follow random people in a matrix town and try to use two buttons to help them have the best day ever no matter how much bad shit happens. one guy just really loves fish and getting a rank on him gets you an image of him watching his fish

i understand some of it but there's an extent of getting mad at men making things for/surrounding women where it's kind of falling into the weirder image of men and women being diametrically opposite and it's just not particularly meaningful if the thing in question isn't like... actually misogynist

getting violently ill and playing deus ex the fall has created a traumatic memory for me i think. i literally can't look at it without getting reminded of how i felt physically at the time. guess it's fitting for that game

it really is surreal to look back on eidos deus ex because i can't really think of a big sci-fi setting with as much money and effort behind it that's... less functional? like on a basic conceptual level the moment you start thinking about anything in those games it all kind of breaks.

halfway done replaying deus ex human revolution... it's. idk. very fun game with neat aesthetics but also like. very vapid and uninteresting game overall. it doesn't make me as mad as iw but it doesn't make me feel a whole lot in general. kinda ready to be done with this series

been playing every deus ex game in order and i'm trying to predict whether iw or hr will be stupider. so far would say iw is the more annoyingly stupid game but hr's speculative sci-fi social commentary gives it a big advantage.
