Someone I know got scammed to the tune of many thousands of dollars by one of the many ploys going around. The government, tech companies, and financial companies need to step up far far more to protect people. And I have little faith that the current US government can do anything anymore 🤬🤬🤬

An AI system to help scientists write expert-level empirical software

How is your day going? This was parking at my mom's house where they apparently added a no parking at certain times sign recently.

www.githubstatus.com says everything is all good / green, but trying to start a codespace. As I was grabbing the screenshot, the status page popped this up: www.githubstatus.com/incidents/4j... "Experiencing connection issues across Actions, Codespaces, and possibly other services". Oh what fun. :(

I just removed support for Python 3.9 in the Earth Engine python client. The change should be out in 2 weeks in 1.6.16 (assuming we don't bump the minor version and have 1.7.0).

Anyone hitting this error with conda forge feedstock?

"python =3.9,>=3.9 * is not installable because it conflicts with any installable versions previously reported"

There are also a lot of complaints about python 3.14 in the logs.

I got all the things I'm responsible for to work on ARM long ago without AI, so I don't know much about this blog post...

Went searching bass guitars recently and yesterday searched on bass guitar tuners (the mic on my phone is just not good down around 41Hz). Now my view of the Internet is littered with digital guitar and other instrument add-ons. I don't have a clue what most of them do.

NEW: There’s a disaster unfolding in Alaska right now. And no major network is covering it.

The remnants of Typhoon Halong battered western Alaska overnight. Homes, with people in them, have literally been swept into the Bering Strait.

At least 20 are missing. No comment from any federal agency.

This from LWN.net is pretty funny. An AI person for 20 years who has never seen AI slop. What rock is this person living under?

I finally got around to making a Zenodo entry for my paper with Eric S Raymond (ESR) entitled "Toils of AIS: A Case Study in Application Protocol Design And Analysis." It only took me 14 years to get around to getting a DOI for it 🤣

Python 3.14 is out. Now I have to wait as the tree of dependencies get their releases out for 3.14 before I can enable it for my packages. It's always something 🤷🏻‍♂️
