Remember her name: Aliya Rahman

Her testimony is everything and it deserves to be heard, by everyone. Decide for yourself.

It’s powerful. It’s gut-wrenching. And no one should have to survive what she did.

Ugh. I was looking up Andy Loretta who worked at ORBCOMM and just now found out he passed away last summer. Andy was an awesome partner in helping to start @globalfishingwatch.org and an all around great guy.

White the www.bestpractices.dev/en/criteria/0 list is good things for a project to do, is there a book sized guide for open source software and, with the diversity of the community, is it even possible to have a guide like that? Too many axes of differentiation, yes?

I've been sitting here in the middle of the night working through thoughts on best practices for open source projects, especially C++ based ones. I think GDAL does a lot really well. libais, on the other hand, is super behind the times. And then there is Python packaging 🤯

I have been trying to learn #rustlang for quite a while. I haven't put enough time in cause of other priorities :( So many resources have bounce off of me, but I finally found a video that I think I click with where I can enjoy watching and learning Rust. Start 5min in.

Interesting take on Spec Driven Development. Much more like traditional software engineering with preliminary design docs, design docs, and implementation plans. I think the spec files are useful even if you don't have an LLM write code.

GitHub message search doesn't seem to do what it is saying. I ask for "EarthEngine" and get a whole lot of not Earth Engine :(

Just merged a fix to the #EarthEngine Python client fixing a bug with `ee.data.getMapId`. As a results, we yanked the 1.7.9 release from PyPI.

TIL more than just gdal_translate can use all the CPU cores for decompression. So, pass `--config GDAL_NUM_THREADS=ALL_CPUS` to gdalinfo for massive compressed files! 🚀
