With the draconian tariffs announced today, It's pretty clear that Trump is trying to tank the economy and raise enough revenue on paper to offset extending the 2017 tax cuts. Like usual for the 'publicans, tax cuts for the rich, a tax hike for everyone else.

Today will not be remembered as "Liberation Day", but as Taxation Day. The tariffs that Donald Trump will roll out today are a TAX on goods imported from other nations that American consumers and businesses will pay.
