Tariffs affected my income so I’ve been taking some freelance. Next job is “on hold” citing tariffs for being postponed.
I’m no Chicken Little, but the toy industry has been proven to be recession-proof. One of the few industries that typically thrives in a bad economy.
Not this time. Don’t look up.

So, instead of facing an almost $80k bill on my $17k production order from my Chinese factory I’ll have a $25k bill instead. And I should be grateful? My factory suggested pausing production until after this summit so my tariff wouldn’t be so high. THAT’s who I’m grateful to.

When it comes to protests that I believe in I am too comfortable with not taking part. Then I read this comment on a friend’s thread, and I recognized my apathy of convenience for what it is, and I feel shame. “I wish one of these protests happened on the weekend because I would love to attend.”

I downloaded an app called Minutiae. It’s an art project where you take a photo of what you’re doing once a day when you get their alert. Wouldn’t you know it, I got my first notification to take a photo…while sitting in the can.

A spider built a web in my studio, and a larger spider chased him out a few days later. Not a lot of insect traffic in my bathroom, so It waited for prey that would never arrive. Today I found the poor usurper dried up in its own crooked limbs. Now I’m waiting for the original spider to move back in
