In Evil Geniuses I explain how big business and the rich since 1980 have used complex, obscure tax and other systemic changes to keep making the rich richer and our economy more and more unfair and unaffordable to most Americans.

They just did it again. Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2025/11/08/b...

Hilarious panicky confusion from Ohio’s Republican governor nominee Ramaswamy: the party raising prices of imports and about to make health care impossibly unaffordable must somehow now make affordability *their* #1 issue. Replacing unabashed hateful bigotry as their brand. x.com/vivekgramasw...

Interesting he’s admitting that Americans blame Republicans for the government shutdown. And also suggesting that the next Republican presidential nominee (if it’s not him, of course) is doomed.

...and bad guy whose oil-rich nation we started a war against for spurious reasons that lasted 8 years, wasted the lives of 4500 U.S. troops and 200K Iraqi civilians, and directly cost $1 trillion.

From the 2017 parody memoir of his first year in office I did with Alec Baldwin –– Trump's vision for improving the White House. With the latest Trumpficiations of the East Wing and the Lincoln Bedroom's bathroom, it's now another reality-catches-up-with-satire prophesy.

Third try in 30 years by miserly anti-government Republicans to use shutdown to bully Dena to let them cut health care. First two in 1996 & 2013 were GOP political debacles. This time: health costs more unaffordable, GOP cuts are imminent—and they’ve weaponized hunger. My bet: GOP political debacle.

“Weeks after Jeffrey Epstein died in federal custody in 2019,” when Trump was president, “JPMorgan was flagging transactions potentially related to human trafficking. It also mentioned Epstein’s wire transfers to Russian banks and sensitivities around ‘relationships with 2 U.S. presidents.’” Link…

In the New York mayoral election, new polls today from three top-tier pollsters, all conducted during the last week.

In all of them Zohran Mamdani beats Cuomo by margins of 10% to 26%. In one 51% of voters are for him.

Cuomo’s at 26-33% in all three. Gift link: www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Maybe or maybe not these AI-driven tech
valuations turn out to be bubbles, and maybe or maybe not their popping would lead to a crash. But it’s extraordinary that the first time the market decided that any company was worth *$1 trillion* was only seven years ago.

Trump yesterday: "I have my highest poll numbers that I’ve ever had.”

New polls yesterday & today are both his worst so far this term
• Economist/YouGov 58% disapprove, 39% approve
• Reuters/Ipsos 57% disapprove, 40% approve

Under-30s are now at 75%-20% disapprove, down in 9 monhts from 50-50.

His flying-monkey House Speaker says there’s no “way to amend the Constitution 22nd Amendment”—and Trump concedes that’s true! “If you read it, it’s pretty clear, I’m not allowed to run. It’s too bad.” Reality-based! Except he added: “We have the greatest economy ever, my highest poll numbers ever.”
October 29, 2025 at 11:12 AM
News organizations’ polling coverage is SO stupid and misleading. In the NYC mayoral election, a new poll yesterday had Mamdani leading by “only” 10%, vs his 15% running average—OMG!

But a new poll just out has him +15%. So now he’s pulling ahead, right? No! It’s not a literal horse race FFS.

Trump continues to be a Munchausen-syndrome-by-proxy ruler: 1) create a dire emergency or 2) pretend there’s one, so you can then A) cure or B) pretend to cure it.

So it comes in 4 types , and what he’s done with China on trade has been the simple 1A kind — create, then cure.

I’d stopped calling him The Greatest Self-Parodist of All Time, but can’t restrain myself this week. Starts by suddenly demolishing the East Wing to build his new ballroom. Ends screaming that a brilliant Canadian ad will “illegally influence” SCOTUS to rule against him. share.google/gYn7FS0qdM2z...

Interesting which of the Magnificent Seven tech companies aren’t paying Trump millions in tribute to build his 2-acre ballroom to replace the 18th century White House East Wing that he just tore down — his ex-pal Musk’s Tesla, and Nvidia, which he already extorted for $2 billion a year.

Craziest inmate running the asylum, rabid fox guarding the henhouse: a year before inflection-point midterms, a MAGA 2020 conspiracy nut is the Department of Homeland Security’s new deputy assistant secretary for election integrity.

Wondering: % of D.C. election deniers sincerely deluded vs lying?

In every poll for weeks, Zohran Mamdani has been at 45% (±2). In last week’s poll— commissioned by Fox News —52% of New York City voters are for him. Versus 28% for Cuomo. 🤗
