Last year was much worse, but at least I was able to create something. This year, I feel like I wasn't progressing the way I wanted to.

I have big respect for merch artists who just poof merch ideas out of thin air. I sat down thinking what to make a merch of (drawing new things in proper dimensions from scratch) and ended up with vague fruits and vegetables

People are always surprised to learn how little creators actually own in comics, games, etc. Big corporate brands are usually built on a work-for-hire model, meaning creators get paid once and then the *company* owns their ideas forever. This is why independent/creator-owned work is so important.

People are always surprised to learn how little creators actually own in comics, games, etc. Big corporate brands are usually built on a work-for-hire model, meaning creators get paid once and then the *company* owns their ideas forever. This is why independent/creator-owned work is so important.

But I think you are right about people not wanting to think about it too. They don't want to hear that the creator of a character in their "favorite IP" died too young or couldn't afford to pay for cancer treatments because they don't get a fair cut. It "ruins THEIR day"
