This is probably the worst part of the book. The demonization and total misinformation regarding Set is pissing me off. Also, there’s the subtle homophobia. It was written in the 70s though, so I’m not surprised.

People are so weird. They’d rather this person be absent in their child’s life as long as they chained themselves to their ideal conflation of sex/gender/sexuality. It’s not about the health of anyone involved, just the bigotry and insecurity of ignorant viewers.

And we also need to discuss “violent” crimes. What’s considered a violent crime in the legal sense is almost entirely arbitrary. 47% of ppl in prison. 56.9% of the prison population is white.
