I'm really tired of the "Won't Someone Think of the Poor Innocent Boys" refrain that denies both the actual violences boys are vulnerable to as well as the capacity of these boys to enforce and enact gendered violence on their peers.

A real two-for-one failure.
You know, every time people lament for Boys Who Aren't Allowed To Express Emotion, every time people cry about how 'Adolescence' Was Too Mean To Boys, and about how we should be Raising Boys Better, the underlying current is still that we want these boys to grow up to be Men.

Dunno gang, I think the "left's answer" to Tate being a "kinder, gentler, but still firmly hierarchal don't worry about that bit" masculinity is kind of a wash.

The reactionary demand for Manhood to be resanctified with the blood of women and queers won't be sated by compromise.

Accept that.

The implication that Things Don't Have To Be This Way is the most violent threat patriarchy can fathom. If gendered violence and the invention of Manhood through the subjugation and devaluation of everything not-Man is underminded, ameliorated, or ... dare I say it ... abolished?

Can't have that!
