I just had a moment:

A while ago I had searched "Vilma kissa" on youtube, as one does, because my gf is named Vilma and I love cats. I came across videos from your second YouTube channel.

I had played Baba Is You before that but did not connect the dots. I just watched some cute cat videos. Crazy

The same goes for Dune 2 this year. Nothing especially subtle about it and it is still such a powerful experience for me.

I guess I'm finding out subtlety is not an important quality for me. I like big swings and big hits or misses.

Nuances and subtlety are great, but sometimes I don't need them.

Bonus late night film (because Wampie hadnt seen it) : La La Land:

Perfect sad ending to a movie, wonderful songs and great performances.

The ending elevated everything so much on rewatches. Maybe my favorite ending for any film.

Impeccable colours and visuals all the way through.

I Saw The TV Glow:

What a cool dreamy movie with a gorgeous visual style.

I was on the edge of my seat for this. Not scary, but just fascinating.

Very trans-coded, but it also works very well just with themes of time passing by too fast and being raised by the TV that I relate to a lot.

Zordoz:

Sean Connery in a weirdly sexual sci-fi movie.

It honestly had some pretty solid sci-fi ideas hidden in there, but it is too campy in not a good way for me. Not to mention some of the dated stuff there.

Still something that was pretty interesting to watch in its weirdness.

Jodorowsky's Dune:

Interesting documentary about the making of a Dune movie that might've been. I've only seen The Holy Mountain from Jodorowsky and wasn't a huge fan. Seems like his Dune would've been cool!

His ego is insane and the journey of trying to make this movie is pretty cool.

Megalopolis in the top 10, while Dune 2 doesn't even get an "also recommended" shout really is kind of wild.

Episode 3 is really where the show goes from good to great.

You're rooting for Powder to succeed every step of the way. You're hoping one of her gadgets will finally work. It makes what happens all the more tragic. It just breaks my heart.

It's hard to pinpoint why exactly, but I guess mainly the story of sisterhood with all its twists and turns just hits me so hard somehow.

"How much are you willing to forgive for family" is such a powerful theme.

The animation is just so strong, subtle facial expressions come across perfectly with no mocap. Just great artistry at work.
