As long as it goes hand-in-hand with making magistrates’ courts ‘courts of record‘ ie the evidence presented and arguments made are put on record, I think it would be fine to reduce appeals. But if that *doesn‘t* happen, I think it’s a big problem — and it may be harder to do than gov thinks.

I cannot recommend you enough to install the Wikipedia app on your devices and use it like you would any search engine. Nowadays they even have tabs so you can open many articles at once.

And, if you can, please donate to the foundation. It has survived the internet enshittification that way.
wikipedia's data shows that AI is siphoning traffic away from the site, which is a danger to its sustainability. ironically Wikipedia is more important than ever to users who want reliable information instead of slop, and to AI companies that need it for training data www.404media.co/wikipedia-sa...
Wikipedia Says AI Is Causing a Dangerous Decline in Human Visitors
“With fewer visits to Wikipedia, fewer volunteers may grow and enrich the content, and fewer individual donors may support this work.”

I think this is our biggest problem: everyone knows they’re lying, about lots of things, but they’re the government and our institutions don’t know what to do with that
What obviously links Trump II's justification for murdering people off the coast of Venezuela and its characterizations of No Kings is that it is willing to lie.

But its claims are so over the top that it's clear to everyone (Dems and MAGA alike, as well as the press) that the govt is lying.

I fell into a Dorothy Thompson hole this weekend and her article (1941) on who goes “MAGA” is worth a revisit.

I wrote about how hard it is to do politics in reality right now, both because of the fictions beings imposed on us and because of the fictions we maintain in our own minds. Read at @liberalcurrents.com

All In Our Heads: On Losing Our Democracy and Life Beyond Our Imaginations
Our language has to meet the moment, and we have to be relentless about dispelling the fiction MAGA is selling.

Stephen Miller believes that if he supercharges the debate over Trump's abuses of power with enough propaganda, he can polarize it and force low-info voters to embrace authoritarianism. Pritzker/Newsom have accepted that this requires an information war in response.
