And so I find my first disappointment with the G90 that I'll take out of the box on Dec 25... No CW memory keying :( I have zero luck at keying RBN manually, so this will sorta be a let down.

The radio box has sat mostly unused for the past week, and not much for the week before that. It's complicated, but it's definitely not lack of interest. Just some other priorities.

So probably for the next 5 years, or longer, I'll have to brag and postulate about the Xiegu G90, especially trying to prove it better than the FT891, which I will NOT be getting "for Christmas".
I'll miss those other 80w more and more as time goes on, I'm sure.
But the money.

Today I ran another practice 5K. Got a PR of 43:55. Not too shabby, after a fairly rough night last night, a busy day helping the wife with a craft show and doing some chores, and then not even really feeling up to running. But I ran.

Kind of a disappointing and "down" day for radio today, for me... Don't talk to anybody, and I'm convinced my radio probably sound awful anyway. Kind of embarrassing to even try. And I suck at CW.

I have decided that my "serious radio" is going to be a Xiegu G90. It's not a 100W, but it's more than 5, and it has a tuner built in, etc. I like what I see. The price is manageable and I'll have a new radio of my own. Hoping I can convince Santa.

I told myself the lie that I would try to figure out some way to reward myself with a real 100w mobile HF radio if I get my Extra. But wow, dang it - that test is for real. Not sure I have a chance.

Every post on QRPer.com makes me wish I really had the time to do this hobby right, to really play radio with Morse code and trips out into the woods, but that's just not seemingly possible right now.

We might not be great at keeping our house perfectly clean, but I PROMISE you we get a lot of other things right - No screaming matches, no fighting, no drunken brawls or stupors, no kicking critters, no starving kids, and no lies about our own perfection.
Lotsa clean, rich people can't compare.

I played POTA radio today on SSB QRP. My microphone sounds awful on the other end, I think, and it's one of the two things that I truly despise about the (tr)uSDX. (It's not the built in mic, it's a modified Baofeng and something isn't right...) But I played in pileups and survived....
