Well, as a European, I hope you're being a little pessimistic there - my assumption was that the nearly 50 % who vote Democrat offer some hope. Optimism and a will to fight back are all we have right now as we face ignorance similar to that of the Trump Cult on this side of the pond...

As an (increasingly bewildered) observer from across the Atlantic, I'm intrigued to know what evidence base is being drawn upon when someone asserts that the US is subject to a 'foreign invasion'.

So the BBC have decided to use the word 'acquire', which,I repeat , implies consensus. This is not a true reflection of the actual dynamics at play ie. an aggressive, unprovoked, expansionist and dangerous bid to take territory from a NATO ally.

If the concept of acquisition is only in the minds of the Trump Cult then the word 'acquire' should have been placed in quotation marks by the BBC. That would have reflected the words used rather than the actual facts on the ground which are actually all to do with bullying a sovereign territory.

You said that not all the options are non-consensual. As far as I can see they are . Therefore 'acquire' is the wrong word and is overly euphemistic.

If you can provide me with a quote from a group representing Greenlanders which suggests consent to a US takeover- I might accept your interpretation . The closest I've seen are some who wish for independence per se.

It isn't about innaccuracy. It's about language. The word used is 'acquire' suggesting a reasonable, consensual transaction. Whereas what is actually being proposed is a hostile takeover, with military violence if necessary - aka an invasion.
