Best friend from high school texted me this from a trivia night. She said she didn't think the question was accurate. I-- and every other librarian my friend knows-- agreed the question was WRONG. It's so wrong in so many ways.

Tried to pick up a package at an Amazon *locker* yesterday to find the locker empty. Amazon won’t let me report it until 5 pm today because they want me to look around my *porch* (several blocks away from the locker) for the package.

Kid has some appointments on the Eastside at a business park right on Mercer Slough, so I’m getting to watch a heron eat fish while I wait.

I’ve set my work laptop with a high-contrast color theme for my failing eyesight. This is what Microsoft considers “high visibility”. This color isn’t part of the theme & I don’t think I can change it outside the Windows Registry.

I think it was @mythopoetica.bsky.social who posted a link to a mango cake recipe recently. Kid just made it! We have to wait until tomorrow to eat it.

Spouse got his COVID + flu shots yesterday & they had lollipops. He picked out one with the colors of the Irish flag (or Côte d’Ivoire when flipped) to give to me.

I learned yesterday that the opera I’m seeing today (Das Rheingold) has a 2 & 1/2 hour run time & is usually performed with no intermission. 🥶I’m still having this Thai iced tea with lunch. Middle-aged bladder be damned.

It’s a beautiful day on Puget Sound! There are a bunch of seals out today but they’re hiding from the camera.

It definitely makes haircare easier. I enjoyed having it ultra short in 2018.

Am I going to have trouble falling asleep after having this cave-aged white tea from Friday Afternoon Tea this late in the evening? Possibly. Will I regret it? No.

Spouse & Kid went Halloween shopping this weekend & Spouse found the perfect Halloween decoration for him. It plays the intro to Bach’s Toccata & Fugue in D-minor along with a clip of a screaming goat. Spouse is ecstatic!

I have a yellow mat that rolls up for storing the puzzle when I’m not working on it. It only goes so far though.

I call this “Laszlo slumbering atop his hoard.”

It’s going to be hot (90+ F/32+ C) for the next 2 days, so I made a salad with watermelon, cucumber, mint & feta cheese, in an olive oil & red wine vinegar dressing.

Attended Diana Ma’s reading from her new YA novel “Force of Chaos” about the Yellow Power Ranger. I wasn’t ever into the Power Rangers, but having heard the 1st chapter, I think I want to read the whole book. #WorldCon2025
