Anyone who has been through a HS production knows the time and dedication it takes to put on a show. Cast, crew, directors, volunteers, & band, come together to pour their hearts and souls into it. And when the ceiling falls mid show, thankfully not on anyone, they keep going…

I haven’t seen enough improvement in emergency comms for my comfort level. Plus it’s hard enough having to essentially implement one’s own 504 plan, adding another layer of self implementation concerns me for those who use phones to access accommodations.

I’m not sold on the idea that phones are unsafe in a lockdown. The only means I had to communicate with my kid during the 5 hour extended release with no central communication was text. I’m not ok with that being inaccessible.

I appreciate the desire for away all day & have no problem with away in bags as the expectation. I have 1 kid who uses a phone for accommodations and another who spent 5 hours in a lock down after a shooting with next to no centralized communication. I do not want phones in a pouch or locked away.

Years ago, I secured grant money for the FH PTA to provide scholarships for students to join extracurricular activities. But because there was no activity bus, I literally could not give them away. There are so many barriers to participation.
