The Gazebo in the woods by Sheringham Hall is an excellent viewpoint (it's a lot of steps, but worth it!)

The penultimate leg of the journey took me through Wuppertal, changing at Aachen and Liege to get to Leuven.

I then stopped off in Dortmund, taking in the views of the somewhat industrial landscape from the tower in Westfalenpark.

I took a steam train up to the Brocken on my first day in Nordhausen (with no less than three steam engines at Drei Annen Hohne!)

Back in April, I took the ferry from Harwich to Hook of Holland, metro and train to Amersfooort and Intercity to Hannover (slight improvisation on @seatsixtyone.bsky.social 's advice)
