The autumn has fully arrived now with the bronze and copper colour, the chilling breeze and that golden sunlight. This weekend I went to Upton House near Banbury home to one of the most impressive private art collections 🏠🎨🍁

Last day in #Wales, stopped off at Chepstow and the weather threw buckets at us, but the sun shone through as we explored the beautiful #castle 🏰🌧️

The calm before the storm, the sun shining across #Stackpole estate in #Wales, about half an hour later torrential rain, then sun again!

It wouldn't be #Wales without a rain shower, but the sun has decided to burn it's way though the clouds now at Lamphey Bishops Palace, and the sound of raindrops descending from the old stone ceilings add some ambience 🌧️ 🏰

I have spent the last day or so trying to #degoogle my Android phone, it's interesting finding alternative apps that are #FOSS via F-Droid and Obtainium, unfortunately my dependence on RCS has meant the messages app has had to remain 📱🔓

Something niche I enjoy about travelling is observing the subtler differences in how countries handle every day things, like transport, street lighting or delivering the mail. It reminds me that often there is no *right* way of doing things, but rather multiple interpretations 🌏

In research code development the challenge is building something robust and scalable, but that also complements existing methodologies. Unfortunately in research papers=funding, hence existing codes are often specific and monolithic scripts - I remember I didn't have time for good practices in PhD!😬

Yesterday I tried out #Terragrunt, a tool which allows re-use and chaining of #Terraform IaC, in this case on #AWS. After a lot of getting my head around things and somehow causing a panic in the underlying Go code, I got it working and was impressed with the results 👨🏼‍💻

Had a wonderful time in Lyon a couple of weeks ago, the weather was warm, the city was beautiful and I decided to take the train all the way, no flying this time 🇫🇷🚂☀️

Beautiful views from #Boscastle #Cornwall today following the coastal path.

It's hard to not worry about the state of the world right now, we have progressed in research, innovation and continued to survive through working together. So many innocent lives are being lost across the globe, it is heartbreaking.

In my opinion one of the most iconic landmarks in the UK, #Bodiam #castle sits in the middle of the East Sussex countryside and has been the backdrop of several TV and film features 🏰 📽️

A very brief blog entry mentioning my encounter with #UV as a former Poetry user in #Python 🐍 ☀️

Going UV
When developing software I have a (perhaps unhealthy) obsession with wanting to utilise the latest, most cutting edge techniques and tools. This is often a terrible idea as it means I am prone to a…

København: Across the Sea
For this years international I decided to head across to Denmark for a weekend in Copenhagen a city which when searched online seems to me more known for a single statue of a fish tailed lady perch…

Yesterday was a real treat visiting #CroftonBeamEngines, not one but two beautiful steam engines in working order by a team of enthusiastic volunteers. A real gem in British industrial history ♨️💧⚙️

It's a shame #Avebury is not as well known as Stonehenge, a lovely little village sitting at the heart of a great #Neolithic stone circle close to 6000 years in age. Remarkable how technology means over the years archaeologists are unlocking the stories that these sarsens have to offer. #history

Cannot describe what it's like visiting #Australia for the first time. Walking the bush, gazing across canyons, waking to exotic birdsong, seeing the southern night sky - one hell of a sensual experience so far. "stunning" and "scenic" fail to encapsulate the sheer awe of something so new #travel

Took a walk in the sunshine today just south Oxford, the walk started with a quiet village green, a quaint little church and rolling hills, the progressed to mud, bog a electrical substation and clambering along a main road to avoid yet more mud 😅 still well worth the fresh air and birdsong ☀️🥾
