Add to this witches brew of female subordination the anti-BCP movement I read about in NYT. They are inviting women to feel what their bodies are when not on a pill. I can tell them - pregnant!

It has less to do with Jews than Eastern Europe. I grew up in the FSU, in Russian/Ukrainian culture, steeped in superstitions (cultural OCD?). I am a walking encyclopedia of superstitions - AMA, I am sure there is a superstition for that.
