Feral gay autistic library/archive/museum data dev she/her/m/it living with cats, guineafowl, Nigerian dwarf goats, cultivating native plants and learning wild basketry while still coviding and screaming into the void while listening to scifi audiobooks
Still riding this high from last Saturday.

Kendrick Lamar (and the whole sold out stadium) performing Backstreet Freestyle in Charlotte, NC.

Ants found an open (but lidded) can of cat food on the counter.

In a 100-year old farm house, they will always find a way.

My solution:
Chick waterer base. Water and a drop of dish soap in. Pyrex ramekin lid over the center. Open cat food can(s) stacked on that. ✅

Start of initial attempt at sculptural weaving a guineafowl head. I think it is heading for scrap-and-start over, but the process is kind of addictive (and mind-bending, thinking about shape in a completely new way, and hard on the hands)

I haven't gone through too much of this, but I was humanities/social science educated and moved into tech stuff late.

No thanks to Mr. Fox, middle school computer science elective teacher, who told me I shouldn't sign up for his class because I'd be the only girl and wouldn't be able to handle it.
A friend included this anti-acknowledgement section on her PhD thesis. She also added the proposition: “Systematic bullying and undermining of girls and women in STEM starts early on and is the reason why they do not stay in science and related fields.”
Absurd we still need to go through this

May I remind you? Immortal Technique's 2011 song "Rich Man's World" has never been more current and apt.

Friday: Injury, too much blood, urgent care

Weekend: normal pain flare added to Friday issues. Absolutely nothing accomplished except stripping elder bark.

Sunday night: pill organizers filled for the coming week; I cannot do this; I gotta do this

Latest basket, all of black walnut leaflet stems. I also registered for a 6-week Sculptural Basketry course at Carrboro ArtsCenter starting in April. #wildbasketry

Last night, in an unprecedented turn, a smoke detector did its actual job instead of false alarm hallucinating.

Everything's fine, though my house still smells a little like a campfire. If that alarm hadn't woken me up, I might be without a house, cats, and/or a life.

Check your smoke detectors!

Latest basket experiment: young bamboo spokes, wisteria bark and black walnut leaf stem weavers.

If we’re renaming bodies of water based on petty grievances, I propose that this be renamed the Kendrick Lamar passage.

Aaaaaaa I screamed with joy!
Kendrick Lamar had big Bugs Bunny energy at the Halftime Show on Sunday.

And the Looney Tunes socials recognized that energy. Real recognizing real, doc.

Today, somebody tagged me in in a Jira issue and said "Can you confirm this issue is resolved since your PR was merged?"

And I got to respond:
@personName, CONFIRMED.

This brings me SO MUCH JOY.

(Read Service Model unless you have specific aesthetic issues with its style of satire, mmmkay?)

Tiny, wonky plaited basket made from elder bark. Bias plaited sides felt like utter chaos. Still not sure how this thing came together! #basketry #wildbasketry

Someone in meeting today, paraphrased: if we could do data migration by magic, clearly we would.

Me: ummm, given all the cautionary tales about the mayhem caused if you are not VERY clear and specific when invoking magic, and the messy chaos of everyone's data… NO WE WOULD NOT

My comfort audiobook routine is now (1) entire Murderbot Diaries by @marthawells.com series, followed by (2) Service Model by @aptshadow.bsky.social.

I'm on #2 now and with the ongoing coup by inept techbro, feel like we're speeding toward Central Services faster than ever. 😭

Took down two sweetgum trees in order to eventually expand guinea run. They were probably too big for me to tackle alone, but I lived. Now I have a mess to clean up. I wonder if any of it can be used for basketry-type purposes. HMMM...

But anyway, I went to a local craft night at a coffee shop and worked on this wonky bird. The frame is blueberry twigs pruned yesterday. The weavers are stripped wisteria bark.

I keep seeing advice for maintaining sanity which includes disconnecting from screens and interacting with the people close to you.

I turn off screens and see… cats, a chicken, goats, guineas, plants.

Welp. Looks like we are in for ye olde descent into madness.

Pruned the blueberry bush. I don't know if these can be used to make things, but the twig colors and buds sure are pretty

Taking up basketry means every yard task takes even longer than before (which is saying something) because I'm compelled to process and sort potential materials as I go.
