I would put anything in a sandwich when I was younger. I'd always have bread with whatever meal I was eating & I'd always turn some of it into a sarnie.
I've had "bread, butter & sugar" (an open sandwich). And a chocolate bar broken into pieces & made into a sandwich.
Never got into crisp sarnies.
