Not really feeling much better. Hoping the gov’t shut down doesn’t keep my SNAP$ from dropping on the 4th. I was really looking forward to eating this weekend.

I can’t make dinner, but at least I can make art. Might go nibble on a paintbrush just to take the edge off.

Watercolor and black glue (it sounds like a street name for some really bad drug, but it’s just black acrylic ink mixed into a bottle of regular Elmer’s glue) on 9”x12” watercolor paper.

The most vital lesson that I learned from being unhoused for a miraculously brief period is this: gratitude is the best attitude. Be grateful for everything even if it doesn’t completely fulfill your needs, your needs just got more fulfilled than they were before, so appreciate that. More will come.

Or maybe they gave me a ride somewhere I couldn’t get because I don’t have a car. It has all saved me because I’m still here to continue to appreciate it and be inspired to make art and whatever else i decide to do with the rest of my life.

Sometimes joy comes from being able to eat because somebody cared enough to Venmo me $ for food, or for a motel room for the night when there was no shelter space available.

People save me everyday by bringing joy into my life in some way, shape, or form, in big ways and in small. They save me by making me feel seen, loved, and cared for. That brings me joy.

Someone once said to me “nobody is going to save you.” That asshole couldn’t have been more wrong and I haven’t spoken to him since without any regrets.

My first outside-the-journal framable piece in over a year give or take! Everything you see on the art table was gifted in some way by someone who supports as a human and an artist by making it possible for me to make it and I couldn’t appreciate and love them more for it!

I told myself I was gonna keep it simple, but then new art goodies arrived, and the half a gummy kicked in, then all hell broke loose! Six hours later (and awake since yesterday afternoon(ish) I had to make myself stop fucking around with it and call it done.

Yeah. That post might come back and bite me in the ass…but it’s not like I’ll be the only one.
