Does your husband sometimes turn into a crow, due to a spell? Try the Scottish solution:
1. Nail horseshoes to your hands and feet for ease of travel.
2. Disguise yourself as a cook.
3. Drop your ring into his soup at a feast.
Everything should come right.

For those of you who use academia dot edu for research, and don't bother to download the papers, I suggest that you go there NOW, TODAY, and download whatever is important to you, because scholars are going to start pulling their work off the site due to this.

When I first started offering pay-what-you-can classes, it felt a bit risky but it’s a model I’m really happy with. My students act as a community to support the people who need to use the lower tiers in what seems like a pretty effortless flow.

Lugh, Lleu and Lugus: People often try to categorise one or all of these deities as a god of lightning, a simple battle hero, sun god, or paragon of virtue, without knowing all the details of their stories. (Lately, I've been hearing that overused buzzword trickster, too.) Info: tinyurl.com/LFL25

Silly me - I shared this article a few days ago, and loads of folk were interested, but it was still in its patrons-only period. It's now available publicly, so please give it another share (and a read) if it's of interest. Thanks!

Y Gododdin is the work of the 7th century poet Aneirin. It's a collection of elegies for fallen warriors from southern Scotland, especially those of the Gododdin tribe based in the Lothians. Here’s a look at the different modern translations of Y Gododdin.

Since most of what I teach is based within Medieval culture, I'm going to insist that, going forward, students in my classes refer the the region shown by it's Correct Established Name of "India Nova". Please purge all mentions of woke terminology like "North America" "America" (see next post)

I've got a new class series starting on Weds. looking at the roots and tentacles of the traditional Scottish tale, Rashiecoats - complete with talking animals, a henwife, a problematic family, and Rashiecoats' very fabulous wardrobe. Should be fun. Come join us!

Somebody explain this place to me. I like to have conversations. I already agree with all the left-wing memes. They're wasted on me. I like talking to people about . . . ? Ideas? Or is that not how this is supposed to work? Should I be more . . . performative?

eeeep! It's another online class.
