Had my little, boring, lonely Thanksgiving dinner. I was still kind of hungry when the doorbell rang & my next door neighbor brought me this!
Oh man, his wife makes the most delicious tamales!

Feliz Dia de Accion’ de Gracias!

The End of the Affair 1955

Based on Graham Greene’s novel of the same name starring Deborah Kerr, Van Johnson & Peter Cushing.
I hate to admit it,but sometimes Van Johnson can turn on the sex appeal.
Cushing is touching as the cuckold, Kerr is in her vamp mode.

Impossibly handsome Ivor Novello in The Man With No Desire 1923.
A bereaved man who can’t cope w/the death of his lover in 1700s Italy, is put into”suspended animation”by a scientist only to awaken 200 years later to find love again but no longer possessing physical desire.
The last scene! Sigh!

The man sitting there next to Henry Daniell saying nothing, is silent movie star Dustin Farnum.

I know this would never happen, but I wish TCM would have a “Remake” night, maybe monthly, where they’d air the well-known US version, like this movie “A Woman’s Face” and then program the original film right after it. Many times the original was European & IMHO, better.

You know, I just remembered looking into devices that block calls on land lines right before my mother died, she was getting calls asking for all her personal info, threatening her SS pymts, etc… and she’d call me freaking out.
Check out Amazon.
Here’s a sample.

Day 22 of the #NoirvemberChallenge is Favorite Musical Number in a Noir.
I offer Christmas Holiday 1944.
Deanna Durbin & Gene Kelly are cast against type as a “nightclub” singer & a sadistic serial killer.
Deanna sings the beautiful Frank Loesser song -Spring will be a Little Late This Year.

I think I need to get an old fashioned, hard, straight back chair in which to knit.
Recliners & cushy couches have totally wrecked my musculoskeletal system. I’m really feeling it tonight.

I recommend her son, Peter Ford’s biography of his parents’ marriage & subsequent life after divorce.
He goes pretty deep on how his father treated his mother.
But they did make a cute couple.

Happy Birthday to the little girl sitting on the dressing room table,
Lorna Luft!
Mama Judy loved her children and happily, they loved her very much, too.

This is what the family hearth looks like when Show Biz is in your blood.

Happy Heavenly Birthday to that gorgeous menace, Anton Walbrook.

He could be over the top, soulfully touching or just mesmerizing.
I’ll even watch his unsubtitled German films because he just lifts off the screen.
