#Researcher during a day, #trailrunner in the evening! 👌🏻😃
What a fulfilling and enriching day at #UlsterPhDFest with a chance to present some reflections from undertaking #realistreview.
Followed up by a challenging and wonderful #trailrunning in #MourneMountains as part of the #Hill&Dale series!

I sought eye contact and smiled at EVERY person in the park yesterday on my run. Just a big kind smile even during speed intervals! And 99% smiled back, some appeared surprised they were not 'invisible' and looked genuinely happy to smile back!

I thought we had a bit more time. Sadly, he's no longer with us. He was a wonderful companion for over 13y.
He travelled Europe, was with us when children were born and survived when we added crazy Vizsla to our family.
#Grief when loosing a #pet is horrible and took me by surprise💔

Thrilled to showcase this stunning commissioned painting, translating my research into visual art, at the @mariecurieeolc.bsky.social conference last week! It highlights vital role of Healthcare Assistants in delivering hospice care at home.

After few days #running in the snow it's a shock coming back to a grey Belfast.
I miss the snow and polish forests!

I needed to get to the city centre to get a book from a library. After quick calculations it turned out the quickest way was to run there and back.
14.5km done but I got some weird looks from a librarian! 😅
Now, back to my research governance application...

After passing my first PhD examinations at Ulster University, I needed some #trailtherapy with my trail running group!!
😅😅😅
Muddy forest in the dark, hilly trails, just focussing on next step ahead... feeling #relaxed and #happy and #fulfilled!!!

I'm so lucky to have found this wonderful group of people!

Ps. I really need to work on leg strenght for the uphills - it was tough🥵

Why changing health inequalities is difficult? Because researchers/scientists, policymakers and politicians make it difficult - Mike Kelly at #evaluation conference @northumbriaideas.bsky.social

'An intervention is never just a thing-in-itself. Complex
interventions have many moving parts, but they also have many
different effects. These effects shape important aspects of the
contexts in which the intervention is being evaluated" @carlrmay.bsky.social @northumbriaideas.bsky.social

Delighted to present a poster about my #realist PhD study at the #evaluation conference.
It helped to open many conversations and allowed me to developed my thinking and clarify uncertainties. Thank you
@northumbriaideas.bsky.social for such a thought provoking event!

It was a privilage to listen to the farewell talk by Professor Ray Pawson about future of #Realist #Evaluation at @northumbriauni.bsky.social
Such interesting insights and points for reflections relevant to my research. See slides and alt text.

I loved another audiobook by this author 'Deep work'. Thank you for reminding me to listen to it again!
And 'Slow productivity' is now in my library! Will listen to it at my long run tomorrow morning 🥰

Slowly getting ready for Monday... Checked my emails and set priorities and tasks for first few days back.
I loved these 2 weeks off, spending time with family and having no commitments, just wonderfully simple life.

Rest is important but quality of the rest even more. I love Xmas break from work filled with running, sleep, laugh, cooking & baking, playing games, cycling.... AND decluttring! 😅
Finally, got to sort #Lego sets - mindful and satisfying activity with kids.

Sneaking out of the house before anyone wakes up to enjoy #sunrise run with my dog alongside River Lagan 🤩
Runs like this one allow me to cope with anything the rest of the day may bring.

Hopes vs. reality...
Trying to make a family Christmas but ended up with a glass of wine disappointed that I'm the only the only one who cares.
Are 'wonderful family Christmas' overrated and idealised image we strive to achieve at the cost to ourselves? 🥺

'You're a weird mum,' said lovingly by my 8y daughter is the best compliment I've ever got!
It was after my winster solstice run as I danced my way to the bathroom, showing off my wobbly tummy and thights beaming with happiness!
She'll get it one day! #bodypositivity #parenting #running
