In these troubling times, a little dog goes a long way. We must never underestimate the power of small fuzzy beings.

Minnie the (mostly) chihuahua and I share strong opinions and a limited ability to contain them. But we do try to be polite.

Minnie questions whether or not it's still safe out there. Maybe stay under the blankets a little longer...

Minnie is prepared to bite the ankles of anyone who tries to tariff her toy supply.

Gotta keep that nose warm.

Minnie has no fewer than 50 toys (we spoil her rotten), but she always keeps these three close. Someone at the Kong Company really has her number.

I don't know about the moral or philosophical implications of this, but did anyone else's pup go crazy when they heard these wolves? Minnie absolutely lost it, and actually howled for the first time in her life. Something ancient spoke to her.

I honestly don’t think of Minnie as a pet. She’s my friend. A needy, obnoxious, loud-mouthed freeloading friend, but I love her all the same.

Society may be crumbling, but belly rubs and couch time are non-negotiable.

In most of my Minnie photos she’s sleeping or snuggling, because that’s the only time I can get a clear shot. All the rest of the time she exists in a quantum state, filling every corner of our apartment simultaneously while playing a hyper-dimensional game of fetch that she alone can understand.

I sometimes wonder if Donald or Elon have ever felt the kind of connection I feel with Minnie. I suspect not. I think they're more interested in being envied than they are in being loved, or loving in return. And for that, I truly do pity them.
