For as long as I can remember, they used motherland (rodina) for general patriotism stuff while fatherland (otechestvo) was only used for military stuff like when referring to WW2, etc. So here it seems to refer to the fuckers participating in this stupid war.

Ended using GPT models a lot for both the content generation and for helping me understand the sentences. The approach has worked so well, I decided to share the stories those models generated for me and automate the process to share it with other language learners.
