All in all, the ideal scenario would be for Brunetti to stay, but it would also make sense if he wanted to move on. I believe his abilities could be replaced internally to a certain extent.

An important factor is whether the coach insists on having a left-footed player on the left side. This will depend on several factors. Márk's biggest issue right now is his availability—he's had several injuries recently, with the last one being particularly unlucky.

Honestly, I often liked him better on the left, but when Brunetti was healthy, there was no question he was the starter. Márk posted similarly good numbers in high-speed ball carries and progressive carries, though he offers less on the ball while providing more defensively.

This raises the question: who could replace him? For me, Csinger Márk immediately comes to mind. Last season, he proved how comfortable he is on the left side, even as a right-footer.

In summary, he is a complex, left-footed center-back who is confident on the ball. Mateus is a rare profile in modern football. At 25, he is entering his prime years, and it wouldn't be surprising if he moved on. Rumor has it that Slovan is interested…

The tactical setup helped him achieve this as he positioned closer to the flank. However, this doesn't fully explain the volume and areas where he advanced with the ball, as shown by the heatmap below, which resembles that of a full-back.

Brunetti ranks among the most progressive players in the league, particularly in progressive carries and high-speed ball acceleration. Compared to the previous season, his number of progressive carries has increased by 75%, a rare for center-backs.

Over the past two seasons, he has shown why he is considered one of the best center-backs in the league. What sets him apart from other central defenders is his ball-playing ability. For a team like DAC, having ball-playing defenders is crucial.

Looking at the numbers, his defensive stats seem poor this season, but this can be attributed to a dysfunctional pressing system. One of his drawbacks is aerial duels, where his win rate is average. Despite not being particularly tall, his vertical leap is good.
December 23, 2024 at 6:29 PM
His defensive abilities have been consistent, and he performed well in a high defensive line, which has troubled many other good defenders. While his speed is average, he compensated well with excellent positioning.

It can be stated that several players underperformed in terms of the quality of their chances, while DAC also allowed average-quality shots against them.

📈When it comes to creating chances and conceding shots, two teams stand out: Žilina and Slovan. Meanwhile, Ružomberok (surprisingly, in my opinion) takes shots from the best positions but concedes high-quality shots at their own goal.

To provide a slightly more realistic picture, I examined the expected goals per shot. The ranking is based on the difference in expected goals. As shown in the chart below, DAC's xG difference is only the seventh-best in the league.📉
December 13, 2024 at 1:40 PM
When looking at xG, it is evident that DAC achieved the second-highest xG value after Slovan, while DAC also allowed the 2nd-lowest xGA after Žilina. However, several factors can distort these metrics. One major influence is the game state, which impacts a team's approach.
