This year I gave out candy, bouncy balls, stickers, and pens

Pens were, by far, the most popular option. Every single child expressed pure delight at being offered a pen. I was told mine was “the best house of the whole night” because of the pens 😆

Conclusion: kids love office supplies
Three buckets of trick or treat options: bucket one is full of stickers, bucket two is assorted candy, bucket three is bouncy balls and Halloween pens

On Saints Row we had a debug npc named Skinballs (lol) that was literally just four spheres wrapped in different shades of skin texture so we could test lighting for different skin tones during development. But teams need to plan for that kind of testing with intentionality, and not enough do.

The History of Flyers/Handbills 14th Century: John Wycliff and the Lollards distributed hand written gospel tracts the first ever in English, and delivered them with a song thus the name lollards - la la la la - lollards. 16th Century: nearly half of all printed material from this periad originated from Martin Luther. His then radical ideas were distributed all over Europe fueling the protestant reformation, and it all started with paper attached to a door. 18th Century: Handbills also helped fuel the American Revolution. Literally every colonial newspaper started as a one page flyer. Handbills with the battle cries of the revolution were posted and distributed. "NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION." Sir Patrick Henrys "GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH," and let's not forget the hissing snake of "DON'T TREAD ON ME." 19th Century: Francis Scott Key penned the most famous flyer of all time while being held prisoner on a British ship. He spent the night watching as the ship bombarded Fort McHenry from the Baltimore harbor. The bombs were bursting in air, through the rockets' red glare, but in the morning our flag was still there. Francis wrote the poem aboard ship, and upon release he had it printed and distributed all over Baltimore. It was so popular it became our National Anthem. 21st Century: Flyers are still distributed all across the fruited plane spreading messages of affordable products, reliable services, out of control governments, and best of all, a merciful God that loves sinners enough to come rescue them.

I’m on a plane!! 24 hours after I was originally scheduled to depart, and having spent a total of 12 hours at the airport itself, I’m on the cusp of escaping Tallahassee.

Morning of Day 2 of the quest to escape Tallahassee. Currently holed up in a hotel. Earliest flight they could rebook me on isn’t until 6:30pm. I can hear thunder outside. Pray to the airport gods for me. 🙏🏼

9 hours at the Tallahassee airport. We’re starting to form a little community. Hugs of support from strangers. Sharing resources. Spreading rumors. My flight claims to now have a departure time of 11:55pm, but I’m now squatting a good napping spot in case the worst comes to pass.

Now trying to contemplate the wisdom of American Airlines for why the 2:20pm flight to DFW is delayed til 10pm while the 6:30pm flight to DFW is only delayed until 8:45pm. After being trapped in the Tallahassee airport for 7 hours this is a personal insult.
