I am happy to share a new blog post in @voxeu.org on a work with Atsushi Yamagishi about how economies of agglomeration and coordination of people’s expectations are the keys to the resilience of a city. The evidence is from my hometown, Hiroshima.
Using data from Hiroshima, Kohei Takeda & Atsushi Yamagishi discuss how the resilience of cities in the face of large-scale shocks depends on the expectations of agents. Policymakers can play a key role by helping to coordinate expectations about recovery.
