The seasons go through a full cycle, ending on summer. The coyote frolics in the forest, scratching its ear and chasing a butterfly. Meanwhile the wolf lays down, not paying attention. In the final panel, the coyote stops suddenly, shocked by something. The cheetah, now mature enough to lose its back fluff, reappears in the forest. Coyote excitedly rushes at it with a hug. When the cheetah greets the wolf, it pokes its tongue out, looking sheepish, but the wolf only seems happy to see it. In the final panel, the wolf and cheetah touch foreheads, both their eyes closed while they smile.

In the middle of the night, the cheetah is restless and thoughtful. It gets up to leave, shooting a glance back at the sleeping canines in a melancholy way. The wolf is awake but doesn't speak. In the last panel, the cheetah is now a human with their back turned to the canines, hanging their head. The wolf looks heartbroken. The wolf nudges the coyote awake. Wolf: look. These young bloods always leave. In the next panel, they watch the human get further away until they're a vague dark shape exiting the forest. Coyote: I didn't. Wolf: you're different. Coyote: maybe it will come back one day. Wolf: don't count on it. Next panel, the canines walk in the opposite direction. The wolf looks frustrated, the coyote still hopeful. Wolf: I know what I am. They don't. Coyote: you can't know what someone is feeling. Besides, nature is always in flux. Things change, like the seasons.

The coyote faces off against a stern and unamused wolf, who says "..." Coyote spits out the cheetah, then playfully asks: uh, would you believe me if I said dinner-- The wolf cuts it off with: No. Coyote: look, I found it in the woods, okay? I couldn't just leave it there. Wolf: yes you could. You just didn't want to. You always do this, you can never-- Both are cut off when the cheetah cub yowls loudly, demanding attention. The cheetah cub looks up defiantly and confidently at the two canines. The coyote looks happy, while the wolf seems uncertain and a bit sad. The wolf walks off, saying "don't blame me when everyone in the forest thinks it's annoying..." Meanwhile the coyote beams, clearly glad it "won" the argument.

The coyote sniffs the cheetah cub, looking intimidating with its open jaws, then picks it up gently by the scruff. The coyote runs home with the cheetah cub thru the forest until sunrise. When it arrives, it looks around anxiously. The cheetah looks -_- unamused at being carried for so long. In the last panel, a voice off screen asks "what is that?" The coyote looks like "o_o;;"
