Dat betekent dat Nederland weer asielaanvragen van Syrische mensen gaat behandelen. Volgens het kabinet is Syrië namelijk veilig.

Maar het ambtsbericht van mei 2025, waarop deze beslissing is gebaseerd, zegt het volgende:

Op COA-locaties wachten momenteel 2.500 Syrische amv-jongeren op een kans om weer mee te doen. Het besluitsmoratorium verlengt hun onzekerheid tot maximaal 21 maanden. Voor velen zijn die 21 maanden een onacceptabel lange tijd.
