Any chance we can get the publisher in the US to release this a week earlier? It'd make for a great birthday present that way. kthx.

FWIW, how I actually imagine book release dates are determined by publishers:

☁ ~ nslookup manhattanbookclub.org

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: manhattanbookclub.org
Address: 216.198.79.1
Name: manhattanbookclub.org
Address: 84.32.84.32

(don't judge my use of nslookup, my peeps)

Domain resolves to a generic ip holding, and github, which isn't impossible (plenty of folks hang their website off of github, at least in tech), but odd for a book club. You could report them to github in theory for abuse.

Nah, sorry to sound like a jerk with the Amazon bit. Double checked kobo, b&n, and a few others before making my audacious claim :)

kobo with koreader running, or jailbroken kindle with koreader (I use both, though the kobo far more often(. Beware the rabbit holes of mucking too much, but easily stripped to the features you want.

The flying is fine, even without a license you could say I’m winging it pretty good - it’s the landing that needs work

Reading this for the first time (thanks!) and had to chuckle that in the space of three lines @rjbarker.bsky.social went from "I HATE exclamation marks, they are the punctuation mark of last resort" to "Ships!" (assuming this was either originally audio or not necessarily in order)

All jokes aside, bah. Imagine if you were out here now?? What with war ravaged Portland and all.
