September 1=Spooky season.

Is it still 80 degrees and sunny?

Yes. But fuck that.

If you want accessible books, hit up your local library. Is the book you want not available? Make a purchase request.

Hell, many authors (including me) would rather someone reach out and ask for a copy. Just don't fucking pirate our books, yo!

If you can't afford books from your favorite author, please request from your local library! It helps the library AND the author.

Also, sign up for mailing lists. We use them to put out calls for ARC readers, reviewers, and giveaways.

I'm always willing to gift an ebook in exchange for a review.
news flash: a lot of us too barely have enough money to live off of either. Stealing our books doesnt help us in the slightest.

Literally just self entitlement. You love to read, but you dont seem to care about the person behind the book.

Anyway, if you didn't know I starting a YT channel dedicated to cozy mysteries and hobbies.

I am trying to find the motivation to work on the next episode (which is mostly done), but it is hard when about 3 people see it, and that is not hyperbole.

Someone tell me to film.

It's so hard to do creative work when it feels like no one wants it.

Had to bribe myself with Starbucks in order to get out of bed this morning.

Things said before caffeine today: "Give me my murder podcast and nobody gets hurt."

Said to my car. Lilo and I frequently disagree about what I should listen to while driving.

I haven't been here for a while. Honestly, life has been shut, my mental health has been worse, and I feel like I'm invisible most of the time on socials, like my work doesn't matter.

We are currently in extended bargaining, but can't strike due to lack of participation. Trying so hard to get members involved!
If you think a group of workere should strike (or not strike) it’s very simple.
1. Get a job doing that work
2. Organize your workplace
3. Convince your coworkers to do that thing
4. Do it your self (together)

Until you do all that, don’t tell other workers they should strike

I am so sick of being sick. Current round of sinus/bronchitis has been going for 5 weeks. This after 9 weeks of bronchitis in the fall.

Sometimes I think my coworkers are intentionally obtuse.

It shouldn't take a 20 minute conversation to con firm that yes, a librarian should be listed with library faculty in the directory.

Especially when that librarian has more seniority than I do.

I have been sick for over a month and not online much. Trying to do better, physically and socially.

Today started with an exploding toilet and now we have sewage all over the bathroom and hall. Which means it is also all over the apartment because we have to wade through it to get between the bedrooms and anywhere else.

Fuck everything.

I literally came to the conclusion last night that I can't do this anymore. I have invested far more time and money into my books than I've ever made back. It would be one thing if my monthly sales bought a tank of gas, but despite all my efforts, I can't even do that once a year. I have 13 books.
I consider myself a failure as a writer because while I am proud of everything I've published, I've fallen down on the marketing end of things so it often feels like a lot of wasted effort. Do you consider yourself a success or failure as a writer (or artist)? How do you measure that for yourself?

I need to shower.

But that requires getting up.
And taking off my clothes.
And getting wet.
And changing clothes.
And I am in my autistic shutdown bubble.

And we won't even discuss blow drying my hair because no.

The world is so awful right now I can't function.

Plus we're $600 short on rent, and I'm looking at potential furlough despite making 1/3 of the median income for my area. In a single income household.

I want off this planet.

Well, my PSA for the day is that if you have a 2024 #Hyundai Kona, those little snapshot insurance devices will kill your battery ded. Like, not even the power locks work kind of dead.

Today has been tons of fun, let me tell you.
