Crime increases when you divest in communities. Mitigating poverty is the easiest and most effective way to mitigate crime. Its also much more cost effective. Additionally, decriminalizing things like sex work, and street vending also helps.
Don’t be fooled by NYPD Commissioner Tisch’s cynical take: Bail reform is proven to protect and improve public safety.
