Adam Driver #127 (TIFF 2019) Caught in a slash of light and shadow, the tip of his left ear peeking through strands of his neatly arranged jaw length hair, a small smile narrowing his eyes, curling the corners of his mouth, and rumpling his dimples as he gazes to his right. Favorite little details I found while painting this one include the creases of his crow's feet fanning across the swell of his cheekbone, as well as the small scars on his cheeks, just below, that are highlighted by the angle of the lighting. There's a shadow from a hollow just under the cartilage at the bridge of his nose, another indicator of just how lean he was then. In addition to the drama of the lighting there's the drama of Adam's features, heightened by how lean he was at that point in time, playing the sinewy Henry McHenry in "Annette" and embodying the scentaur for Burberry's Hero commercial. The sleek padding of buccal fat below his cheekbones is absent, making the folds in the skin from his dimples even more prominent, and the razor sharpness of his jawline is evident even when obscured by shadow. He's also sporting a bit of stubble on that chin, which you can see along the edge of his silhouette.

Next question" (2023 Camerimage Film Festival)" Leaning forward slightly, tiny shiny tendrils gleefully curling out from the confines of the waves neatly coiffed to frame his face, eyes glinting with subtle mischief, the corners crinkled by crow's feet, subtly slanted smirk bracketed by the furrows of his dimples, his upper lip and chin speckled with silver-sparked stubble, the open collar of his shirt framing the strong column of his neck. Adam's face is turned a touch to the right as he tilts his shoulders down to the left, but his gaze is firmly fixed on us, almost like he's leaning in to share a sotto voce witticism. He's pursing the lower eyelids of both eyes, but the right is nestled more firmly in it's crow's feet crinkles than the left. The soft smirk pulling at his lips slants the same direction as his body, the tugging upward to his right. There's light reflecting off of something in front of him to shine on the undersides of his brows and nose, as well as highlighting the beautiful lines and textures of his chin, jaw, and neck. The fall of light also emphasizes the geography of his face, especially the hollows of the scars near the left corner of his mouth, and his stubble is just long enough to let us enjoy the sparks of silver scattered amongst the black hairs.
