#WIPWednesday

I couldn't find a knit pattern for a hood/balaclava that 1. worked with my materials and 2. I was happy with, so I'm using the measurements of Paton's Haute Hood to cobble something together.

Should be fun 🧶

Doing a project with my classes that includes digital photography, so we're using these nifty cameras that don't have a display.

You'd think I handed them a stone tablet on which to carve the image

You ever just get the desire to match your yarn to your book covers? 💙📚🧶

"A witty modern folktale that touches on themes of capitalism, environmentalism, labor rights, and being a nice person"

When the library comes through, boy does it really come through! 💙📚

Gotta say, this was delightful from start to finish.

I went in without a big desire for gossip about specific girls, and Im glad she didnt focus on that, but I'm so happy to actually have an explanation for who stole Bre's granola bars! Most unexpected anecdote in here #antm

About once a month, I screenshot this same yarn with the thought "I'll buy this to knit a sweater soon, I'm almost ready."

According to my camera roll, I have not been ready in over a year 🧶

My #ShowMeYourKnits horror story is this yellow hat that was originally for my daughter. One accidental wash cycle later, and it has become a toy for Mr Bear here. 🧶

It's been a hot minute - really feeling like I should pick up my Eat the Rich knitting again. 🧶

Admin really thought they were doing us a favor by handing these out for classroom use.

A Macrolepiota? Cute little parasol mushroom from today's walk. 🍄

Finished, but sooooo unstructured.

This yarn + this sizing = humongous mess

I'll be trying again with a slightly decreased cast on and smaller needles. I can at least enjoy this hat, but if others are going to be gifted a knit, it needs to have more shape to it.

Hefty, I'm BEGGING you, bring back these limited edition Halloween costumes! My toddler wants to be a garbage collector for Halloween and I want to dress them in more than just a reflective vest.

Any guesses about what's getting featured on my current 🧶 WIP?

That feeling when you've already lesson planned so hard that your prep period becomes a bit more enjoyable. 🧶

#GBBO, here I come.

Toddler wanted an elephant birthday cake? Done! Not as colorful as last year's butterfly, but at least this one isn't just banana bread covered in cream cheese. Everyone is happier now that the kid can eat sugar.

So! Ugly!

It's actually worthy of a public bathroom selfie.

"Auggie & Me" by RJ Palacio

Everyone reads "Wonder." When you're done, have kids read The Julian Chapter.

"The Bird King" by G Willow Wilson

An historical fantasy about the last days of the Islamic sultanate in Spain. It's a period of history that we never discuss in school, this is going to spark curiosity.

"Small Gods" by Terry Pratchett

A classic for good reason. Introduce Pratchett to kids now and they'll be hooked for life. Not technically YA, but it hits hardest at this age and sparks a lot of good anti-authority questions.

"The Girl From the Sea" by Molly Knox Ostertag

At its heart, this is a graphic novel about wanting to escape. It's a great LGBT story that will appeal to teens who absolutely cannot wait to graduate and start anew.
