Such a good, important article.

Call to action: “Don’t wait for instructions. Ripples matter—and you can make some now.”

Let’s go!

How to understand the concept of "competitive authoritarianism" and why it's crucial to push back now to avoid it.

“…many white ppl don’t know how to be in true, reciprocal friendship with Black, Indigenous, & People of the Global Majority…not because they don’t want to, but because they were never taught how…white supremacy doesn’t breed intimacy…it breeds extraction…”

“A room full of white women practicing ‘hip-hop yoga’ is offensive in all kinds of ways,” is one of my favorite quotes from “Do Better: Spiritual Activism for Fighting and Healing from White Supremacy” by Rachel Ricketts.

Why? Because I am that white woman.

Ever heard of spiritual bypassing? It’s using spiritual ideas and practices to “sidestep or avoid facing unresolved emotional issues, psychological wounds or unfinished developmental tasks,” according to psychologist John Welwood.

How does this fit into my exploration of white supremacy?

#whiteprivilege is the unearned rights and benefits I get solely based on the color of my skin. Find yourself on the Wheel of Power/Privilege. Are you closer to the center of power than others? If so, look towards the outside circle and commit to one action to fight for those groups.

Once you start paying attention to all the ways white supremacy is part of our culture, you see examples everywhere. Like the Super Bowl Halftime Show where Kendrick Lamar, by way of Samuel L Jackson, gave us a great example of #tonepolicing.

I saw a sign that said “No immigrants = no tacos” at a gathering denouncing deportations. I’m not sure if this person was there in good faith, but this is a great example of #whitecentering, the tendency to prioritize the needs of white people, even in discussions about racial equity.

White supremacy in action.
“For whatever reason, people of color have a higher incidence of maternal mortality."
This is a rather telling statement. Nearly a third of women in Louisiana are Black. www.businessinsider.com/gop-senator-...

Let’s talk #Whitesupremacy, which is the erroneous, violent, and racist idea that people with white or white-passing skin are superior to and therefore deserve to dominate over people with brown or black skin. It includes participating in actions, choices, or complicity supporting the status quo.
February 7, 2025 at 11:24 PM
According to Layla Saad, #whiteexceptionalism is “the belief that you, as a person holding white privilege, are exempt from the effects, benefits, and conditioning of white supremacy and therefore that the work of antiracism doesn’t apply to you.”

My participation in misogynoir was steeped in anti-blackness (being opposed to or hostile toward Black people). This is a tough one for me to look at (I mean, it’s all terrible), but let’s dive in.

Colorado was supposed to be a model of Dem leadership vs. Trump 2.0. But I see Senator #johnhickenlooper voted to confirm the Treasury Secretary, Senator #michaelbennet voted to confirm the Energy Secretary and Governor #jaredpolis says Colorado welcomes ICE? Nope. We demand better.

Stoking fear of a Black woman is a perfect example of #misogynoir. It suggests artists mention Beyoncé in their speeches “for fear of her influence”?!

www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/ar...

They mention her because she’s incredible and has been denied album of the year until 2025 (also misogynoir).

Late “daily” post.
After talking about transphobia in feminism, it got me thinking about my participation in #misogynoir (a term coined by writer Moya Bailey to describe misogyny directed specifically toward Black women).

Yesterday I shared about my #whitefeminism and how I’m trying to unlearn that conditioning. Let’s look at how #trans-phobia creeps into feminism.
US health agencies scrubbing websites to remove 'gender ideology'
