The Vi-O-La theme did not need to go this hard. It's rad.

18 years of waiting finally at an end

So, Google has finally shown off Gemini 3. It is apparently quite a leap in capability.

LinkedIn, I'm not sure what you're asking me here.

...hold up. Why does the Microsoft Office suite for macOS include Defender? What does it even do?

Why are Teams and OneDrive more than twice the size of Word and Excel?? Teams is just a chat and file share program. OneDrive is just file sync.

What are you *doing*, Microsoft??? Please explain.

I can't get over how ridiculous hummingbirds are. Let's have tiny drones that can hover & fly backwards which drink pure nectar through a straw, experience time faster than we do, flap their wings at up to 4000 BPM, dive at 60 MPH, and have heart rates of 50 - 1200 BPM. Totally reasonable birds.

Not today, Lakitu. Not today.

Yep, my console isn’t going to show up for at least two more days.

But I have the Switch 2 controller! Does that count? The NSO GameCube controller should show up later today too.

Looks really nice, IMO.

I took a look at the HTML for the registration confirmation page. It has an embedded timestamp on the ETA field, 2024-10-21T04:30:00.000Z

That would be… 9:30 PM PDT tonight.

So another three hours, perhaps? We’ll see.

SF Fleet Week was awesome! Loved the whole show, especially the F-22 and F-35B demos. Ace Maker was great too. Unfortunately I forgot to charge my camera, so I’m stuck with only iPhone pics and video.

Also got sunburnt. Whoops. Things to fix for next time.

Took a couple of Waymo rides in San Francisco for the first time today! Very smooth experience, the AI feels like a calm, professional driver. L4 self-driving cars are here today and they are awesome. Tesla wishes they could do this.

…so when can I buy one of these?

To celebrate video on Bsky and Unity’s announcement, I give you: a several week old, vague WIP. I’ve been working to recreate the base mechanics of Metroid Prime from scratch as a learning exercise (working off-and-on) and it’s kinda getting there. Long way to go yet. I’ll give it real art someday.

Hmmm, not a great start to one’s travel plans. SEATAC experienced… issues.

I picked up the EVE Online 20th Anniversary box and this was inside. I feel like someone should tell CCP Games that things have changed a bit since EVE launched. I don’t think I even own a floppy drive anymore haha

The update file which caused this insanity is just 42KBs of zeros. How does that happen? How does an update chain manage to push out not merely a blank file, but a completely zeroed out file and pass all validation and sanity checks? The fixed file is more like what you’d expect.
