I started reading Mokyr’s Culture of Growth today and he focuses on culture as not just how we treat each other but the environment which the mastery over others and environment with no consequences uniting white supremacy and industrial destruction quite clearly. As in your right.

Losing nearly a 1/3rd of your seats means he is mostly rejected, Half all his voters in 2023 walked away. It’s doesn’t mean sandy that xenophobia is rejected as only ~20% of his voters and more left or stayed at home

The way the media covers the far right is just downright weird. Sure is it’s bad 1 in 5 dutch voters like Wilders but they’ve lost the most ground since their peak & a new far right emerged and D66 surging. So many better storylines than all powerful scary man that’s actually not that powerful.

Let’s be clear about population decline: It likely means we’ll be hitting European-like GDP figures.

Productivity + population growth = GDP growth. Which means we’ll need to magically double productivity to maintain growth.

TLDR: Immigration is vital to a healthy American economy.

what on earth?!? Like no only does she want to compromise with racist version Lucy over the football. but wants to create a two tiered tax system that implicitly argues immigrants sucks money out of the system.

How does any of this pass for an “argument”

I really wish people understood how these things work. It didn’t count, it got lucky.

I did the same and it quickly failed, asked it show work & failed again.

Gemini got it right by pulling all the words from a scrabble youtube video.

LLMs are good at translation not functions.

I am trying to understand why these people think the government will follow their legal agreement when they ignore the constitution itself constantly — including in this literal case.

Seriously if the Line isn’t going to happen we have to start admitting Trojena doesn’t stand much of a chance.

And btw you and he are taking the under-researched "adoption" is the problem old MattY position here.So maybe following people you disagree with would prevent you from doing so next time.
July 13, 2025 at 6:42 PM
You mean the european wide subsidies that exist?
July 13, 2025 at 6:01 PM
Yeah sorry nope. He specifically compares a very wealthy country’s adoption to European adoption. Then says the contempt itself is mass death for poor people.

Also one subsidized AC for USA (unless you count housing purchase subsidies) — it’s just wealthy.

I am way more fascinated by the (likely not statistically significant) divide between the next closest wrong answers:

This is literally just choices we make. We could subsidize every plant There is not some special reason nuclear is deeply expensive on the technological level. Just like manufacturing exports are a choice

Of course Hart-Rudman had a lot of bangers also ignored in favor of supercharged ICE/CPB
June 20, 2025 at 5:00 AM
IMHO is DHS was a decent idea. But it’s a perfect example of a decent idea being a terrible in execution because they only bought into on aspect of the idea. Instead the center of DHS became the immigration agencies - just send CBP back to treasury, eliminate ICE, and essentially make FEMA cabinet.

The London protest at the US embassy of US expats is appropriately renamed “No Tyrants Day” to avoid confusion 🫣
June 14, 2025 at 12:10 PM
My favorite part of making my weekend plans is that the “No Kings Day” protest where i live has been renamed

Ahhh when you share a city with King …

In fairness this is just what happens when you measure quarterly vs annually as an example you can see it this pre/post war growth.

I think, Americans are behaving as I expected with people hating what they voted for.

But the media collectively has lost the plot. I am constantly astounded by the coverage differences of Trump versus every other President.

I mean helicopter tours exist in countries where ATC is fully charged to the users, so unlikely. Switzerland has some of the highest in the world and the prices are much higher.

What it would do is keep them all in the > 4-hour range not 1 hr at $200 Vegas has too many of.
