Medical student (among other things).

An eclectic assortment of ideas I’m striving to learn, understand, and possibly apply. I’ll make mistakes along the way.

Consider it a journal (of sorts).
Is there any you revisit often just for curiosity’s sake?

For instance, a footballer can just as easily catch a ball with their hands (which is debatably their primary function, i.e. catching/holding) as they can between their knees. I wouldn’t be surprised if some rather complex, non-locomotive concepts are also mapped onto the motor cortices.

I’m more interested in the fact that the CNS doesn’t merely understand the body as an assembly of parts, each with restricted primary functions, but rather by the desired locomotive outcomes that each body part’s potential movements makes possible. It’s a more dynamic and re-programmable mapping.

For me, a reasonable definition of intelligence is the ability to acquire data, process it in a way that yields both context-specific and general rules, and to apply that knowledge in pursuit of desired outcomes. Understanding colour theory and identification is another unique manifestation of that!

And secondly a deep dive into what historians of future ages will make of us, living as we do right now, surrounded by ephemeral data. Will there be anything left to know what we cared about/how we lived? And who gets to decide what gets saved? www.technologyreview.com/2024/08/19/1...
The race to save our online lives from a digital dark age
We’re making more data than ever. What can—and should—we save for future generations? And will they be able to understand it?

Great read! Among other things, declining literacy rates, companies deleting longstanding archives as cost-cutting measures, and the proliferation of low-quality AI content have really shown me just how fragile our media environments and knowledge management systems truly are.

Hi, just wondering: what is the largest PDF size it can reliably interpret/work with?

In what way? Which skills do you feel are on the decline?

Good luck with the studies ahead!
