@kaine.senate.gov , please change your vote on the CR. Kicking the can down the road for a promised future discussion/vote didn’t work last time. Pole will die without the healthcare they can no longer afford. (And yes, I know fed workers aren’t being paid—several of my family members among them.)

Another #hat for #ShowMeYourKnits! This is a baby hat I made about 15 years ago. I sent it off to our niece today for their new baby, along with a #babyblanket I started 6 years ago and finally finished.

It’s hat week for #ShowMeYourKnits! The collection of five hats were knit for the local women’s shelter. (I knit a lot more, but I can only upload four photos, and the other ones were all the same except for the color of the yarn.) The three single hats were gifts. #hats #handknit #knitting

Let’s be clear: Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans forced a government shutdown tonight.

Rather than address the health care crisis that they created just earlier this year, they refuse to come to the table and do their jobs.

What happened to the art of the deal?

An excellent discussion on how #publishers and #indexers can better communicate to produce the best #index for the book. Thank you to Gwen Henson of @asindexing.bsky.social ! #indexing

This week’s #showmeyourknits prompt is “what’s on your needles?” My current projects are the “May I Borrow This Please” shawlette and the “Homestead Tweed Cardigan Vest.” (Photos are not up to date because I am recovering from yesterday’s Covid shot.) #knitting #handknit

We got our Covid vaccines yesterday. (We both have qualifying conditions.) If you are in a state where pharmacists can’t give the vaccine right now, it’s worth checking whether you can get it through a CVS MinuteClinic, as we did. #covidvaccine #covid

More stripes for #showmeyourknits . This time, 2 scarves I knit a few years ago from my own handspun. L: multicolor scarf in moss stitch (fiber dyer unknown.) R: green scarf; fiber from Quillin Fiber Arts, pattern is One Row Handspun Scarf by S. Pearl-McPhee. #handspun #handknit #knitting

Fiber crafts tend to proliferate. I started as a knitter, then took up spinning. Then I bought a blending board and started blending my own batts for spinning. Here’s the latest! (Loom is a 15” Cricket from Schacht, bought used. Yarn is acrylic.)

Tour de Fleece, Day 20: Continuing the 2nd bobbin of the Malabrigo Nube in their “Boreal” colorway. I’m past the halfway point for this bobbin, and beginning to worry that this singles will be considerably longer than the first one.

I haven’t only been spinning recently; I’m also doing a KAL with my local spinners and weavers guild. The pattern is “May I Borrow This Please“ (you can find it on Ravelry.)

Tour de Fleece update, as of 7/21/2025: I finished the first bobbin of a planned three-ply and started on the second. The fiber is Malabrigo Nube in “Boreal,” and I am spinning it on my Louet Victoria travel wheel.

Tour de Fleece 2025, Day 11 (7/15.) The Rusty Truck yarn is finished as of today; I washed it yesterday and skeined it today. It came out really well. Tonight I finished the first bobbin of the Malabrigo Nube in Boreal (about 1.33 oz, if I divided the fiber evenly. 🤞)

Tour de Fleece, Day7. Almost done spinning the Flame batts as a thick-and-thin art yarn. I didn’t remember how much yellow there is in the second and third batts. I think I will ply it with red thread to emphasize the red. #tourdefleece #handspun #handspinning #teamfswg2025

Tour de Fleece 2025, Day 6: I decided to spin up some art batts I created. I have three of the batts (about 2 oz. each, I think?), and I am spinning them as a thick-and-thin yarn. I have more of the base fibers, so I can spin up a plain yarn to ply it with. #tourdefleece #teamfswg2025 #handspun
