No edits. 459th ARW KC-135 (57-1479) descending for JB Andrews (taken near Colesville, MD). Sun is badly positioned this time of day, however. Looked kind of cool with the tree. #aviation #milair #USAF

iPhone through telescope shot! Purple lights are from the iPhone camera array. As satisfied as I'll get having missed the peak brightness previously. Comet ATLAS A3 before it fades away for 80,000 more years. #comet #astronomy #telescope

Another surge of aurora between 10:15 and 10:30 or so!

And now I snapped this pic of a C-40B (01-0041) descending for JB Andrews as well. Callsign was SAM520. Best plane days from home seem to happen when you least expect it! #milair #aviation #USAF

Biden's C-32A and Kamala's C-32A descending for Andrews. Lighting sucked but I'll take it - best pics I've managed from the yard recently. #milair #aviation #USAF

Crude crop (yes I see the white line at the bottom left). Taken using 8" dobsonian telescope with a 42mm eyepiece and an S24 Ultra manually held to the eyepiece in 200MP mode. #solareclipse

Caught C-17 RCH3254 (08-8197) descending for JB Andrews. This one is out of McChord. Only 8am and already a bit of a win for a Friday!

This legitimately looks almost like a snowstorm rush hour...and this is NOT just "congestion" - this is DMV drivers not knowing how to drive at a steady pace. Everyone seems terrified to even be on the road...and of course the left lane 15mph under the limit morons.

Unusual CAP continues beyond sunset (atypical). Lots of helicopter activity over the region tonight as well! Even saw some helos coming from Mount Weather (image)

I guess the winning strategy is not to try too hard. Months of missing plane after plane...and I step outside after a work meeting and casually get 169570 (P-8) flying over the DC area at FL350-ish.

P950...but even then...at that altitude it's not going to be a great picture with some high clouds.

And that's what a MITO launch (minimum interval takeoff) drill looks like. All four are right around refueling altitude now. Assuming this is an exercise - whether planned or not - who knows?

Maybe an eyewall feature trying to form now? Some lightning in there as well! Ophelia really making a go of it!

Pretty good bet that N1242Y is dropping skydivers right now. Have jumped out of that plane before! Skydive Baltimore is a great crew! Highly recommend.
