Years from now, when our animal-skin-wearing descendants gather in crude dwellings to tell tales of America before SOMEBODY made it great again, the youngest will ask, “But her emails?” And they shall be told to zip it and go sleep on a drafty ledge outside that leaks during the rainy season.

Thanksgiving is my Super Bowl. We host family from Wed to Fri. It’s a THING. Today, I typed up a 4-day Thanksgiving playbook w/to-do lists, recipes & a 3-day cooking schedule, then 3-hole-punched it & put that shit in a binder. Because I’m sick like that & also cause I have ADHD up the wazoo. Go me.

What’s really great is having to make the holidays happen for your family right before America goes bye-bye. Merry Christmas, sweetheart. Here’s a sweater. It’s handwash cold. Not ideal care instructions when serving in the resistance, but at least the color will make your eyes pop while you march.

Normalize inconsistency in your art. Normalize not making every art piece super detailed and intricate. Normalize just creating art for the sake of it.

Goodreads is owned by Jeff Bezos. A better alternative is StoryGraph, a Black woman-owned platform. And before y’all start, you can transfer all your Goodreads data to Storygraph so you literally have no excuse.

The most important thing in writing is to finish. A finished thing can be fixed. A finished thing can be published. A finished thing can be made into a movie.

An unfinished thing is just a dream. And dreams fade if you don't hold on tight enough.

So finish the thing.
